A Level Art and Design
Unit 6 - Topic: Propaganda Art Posters Inspired by a visit to the Tate Modern to see an exhibition of Rodchenko and Popova's constructivism art and graphic designs. Also influenced by Shepard Fairey's Obama Hope campaign. This is one of the eleven full prints produced by a multi-colour Linocut. First the design was made on Photoshop and then scaled up and printed A3 size from the computer. This was then traced onto a linoblock. First the white areas visible were cut from the block and the whole piece was printed yellow. Next, after washing the block, the yellow areas were cut away and it was printed red. Then following the pattern of cut, print, cut, print, cut, print, the light blue, dark blue and black areas were all printed. As a relief print, all the areas which were cut away leave the colours that are on the paper, thus the overall image takes place. *Phew" that took a long time to explain...
